Managing Officer
- Valentine B. Andela ("Bisangena") M.D., M.A. (Intl. Admin.):
Bisangena's core competence is translational cancer research (molecular oncology); having contributed to the understanding of fundamental mechanisms – and signaling pathways – implicated in cancer metastasis (spread) and designed targeted preventive and therapeutic drug strategies thereto (click here for Medline full list of publications). More recently, Bisangeana pursued a fellowship in viral oncology and contributed to the elucidation of a novel counter-immune surveillance mechanism utilized by the Epstein Barr Virus ("EBV") in EBV-related cancers, that is amenable as a preventive and therapeutic tool in EBV-related cancers (notably prevalent in Africa): the manuscript presenting these findings (http://cancerres.aacrjournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/68/5/1436) was plagiarized and has been a bone of contention in ongoing court proceedings. As the managing officer of Cancer-Africa and as a student of world affaires, Bisangena is informed by the "organic analogy" between his area of core competence and in the conundrums in world affaires.
